Open letter from the lawyer Bonanni to Roberto

From Associazione Esposti Amianto, Notizie n. 17, Luglio-Agosto-Settembre 2008, anno 5 nr. 17, pag. 13.

Dear Roberto

I say goodbye for the last time and it's an "arrivederci"...

It isn't possible that when we saw each other in Rome it was to be for the very last time... you were hoping to visit the Vatican... what a sad omen...

You thought that you would have won your most difficult and important battle, over the illness and many people's indifference towards it...

We thought that even the indestructible fibres, invisible killers (helped along by many) would be destroyed by your love for your wife and children and their love for you. But we were wrong...

Not Fate, neither Destiny nor the Almighty, but others in their place proclaimed themselves to be unilateral Judges and hangmen, and they lay an irrevocable sentence over your life... I couldn't... the end had already been written.

Your peaceful and calm Odyssey, during which you gave hope to others, will not be forgotten.

You are Ulysses...

I am always at your side... If you can, give me more strength and energy to continue the fight.

Arrivederci

Ezio Bonanni
